oral lichen planus
1. 2001
25 patients with oral lichen planus.
The results revealed low red cell folate levels in 11 out of 25 patients (44%).
They were defined as having folate deficiency (n = 10), folate deficient erythropoiesis (n = 3) and folate depletion (n = 7).
Therefore, folate levels should be investigated in patients with oral lesions and symptoms especially those with risk factors of age, poor nutrition or systemic diseases. When suspected, daily folic acid supplements should be given.

- 64 subjects (32 patients with OLP and 32 healthy samples)
the serum levels for Folic Acid was significantly lower in patients with OLP compared to healthy subjects. (p=0.03).
healthy subjects was 12.4±4.2 ng / ml whereas in patients with OLP it was found to be 9.45±4 ng / ml.

3. 2017
- 110 patients with LP (cutaneous and oral)
There were significantly higher prevalence of lower folic acid levels among patients' groups.
lower folic acid have been found in OLP when compared to CLP.
